In 2001 terre des hommes has launched an Internationale Campaign against Child Trafficking. The central matter of concern is to put an end to the growing exploitation of young boys and girls and to better protect children from the evils of child trafficking.
The campaign adresses the problem on three levels:
Awareness raising: terre des hommes informs suitable target groups (e.g. decision-makers, media, disseminators, the general public) with the help of extensive public relations work and sensitises them to the problem. This also contributes to a better protection of potential victims.
Lobbying: terre des hommes uses targeted advocacy to support the enforcement of theme-specific international conventions, the initiation of national legislation procedures and the implementation of this legislation into enforceable law.
Projects: terre des hommes provides help for victims and initiates educational and prevention programmes to better protect the children from exploitation.
